Elliott Insurance Brokers was nominated in the 2015 Rising Stars Awards and the challenge was set for nominees to raise as much money as possible for the Starlight Foundation. Helping the community and being involved with local charities is an important part of Elliott Insurance Brokers company culture and is an ongoing passion for CEO John Elliott who is involved with several charities. For this reason, the challenge was embraced by the Elliott Insurance team, raising a record amount of money for the Starlight Foundation.
The Starlight Foundation is a non-profit organisation seeking to improve the hospital experience for children and chronically ill teenagers. They are dedicated to brightening the lives of these seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families by using positive distraction. With the opportunity to raise money for such an amazing organisation, the Elliott Insurance team decided to go all out for the challenge.
Not ones to do things the easy way by simply handing around a donation tin, the staff decided instead to divide into two teams and do something a little more creative. Although CEO John Elliott has a much better haircut than Donald Trump, he took inspiration from ‘The Apprentice’ and required teams to compete in a number of challenges to see who could raise the most money. Just some of the ways money was raised includes hosting a fundraising event in the Elliott Insurance office complete with drinks and nibbles, organising an online auction and starting a public donation page. We were lucky enough to also receive support from insurers who made dollar for dollar donations.
As you can see, the Elliott Insurance staff took their fundraising very seriously and managed to raise $20,000 for the Starlight Foundation. This is a record amount raised by any one Rising Stars entrant and was more than double the previous record holder.
Elliott Insurance Brokers would like to extend a special thank you to Rick Cullen from Cullen Wines and Ron Wise from Wise Winery for being fantastic supporters of the fundraising efforts. To help raise as much money as possible, a two night Wise Winery package deal was generously donated and auctioned off by the Elliott Insurance team.
